In the history of the last 26 years of the company’s operation life, corporate responsibility of the company is a part of its philosophy not just a legal/ moral obligations. The founder director Tilak Lama himself hailing from a remote hill village in Kavre district has been involved in the community services since his college days, 35 years back. It was not simply out of his hobby or abundance of resources but, necessity in the underprivileged community he lived and grew.
He is the pioneer and founder in establishing Bolde Health Center, helping hundreds of poor students going to village schools, building class rooms in the village schools – Shivalaya, Saraswoti, Kalika and Dorjeghyang, promoting/helping build toilets in Bolde village, smoke less fire wood ovens in the villages. In these endeavors, Himaland always stood firm behind Tilak’s community service works. These projects benefiting the needy in the remote villages are consistent and continuing till today.
There are half a dozen village schools in different districts like; Kavre, Nuwakot and Solukhumbu still running well with help of Tilak and Himaland.
Furthermore, whenever there are natural calamities like floods & land slides, e. g.; devastating earthquake 2025, Covid-19 pandemic etc. Tilak with support of Himaland as a company and it’s networks at national and international levels, personaly was in frontline helping the needy. We have a documented records of all these works. During the earthquake relief works, we reached many remote areas of Kavre, Sindhupalchok, Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts.
At Tilak’s own initiative, also a farmers’ lively- hood support project is going on for the last 4 years. More than hundred families are the beneficiaries in the villages of Temal Rural Municipality, Kavre. An agro based Food & Fruit Processing Center is also being built now in the same region.
With such back ground of consistent community services in the needy remote places of Nepal, Tilak is associated and in the boards with national and international charity organizations for continued community services like;
Many of our staff in the Himaland hail from the remote villages from poor communities. We are like family and help each other at difficult times. Exchange of helps are not only from the corporate level but, also at personal levels. That is why we are working together for over the last 20 years. To name a few of them; Ratna Man Lama, Pemba (Ranjit) Tamang, Pasang Sherpa, Kumar Ranabhat, Beena Kapali, Suppa Lopchan and so on. Himaland has been also helping to get education sponsorships for our children of field staff.
