Following the recent flash floods which have occurred in Nepal we would like to clarify some information about them for anyone who is planning to visit Nepal soon.

The flash flood mainly affected the Trishuli River Basin with other areas of the country having minimal to no effect at all.

Nepal’s major tourist destinations and popular travel routes outside of this area are not affected and continue to run as normal. Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan and Lumbini, are still open to tourists who would like to visit, as of today these areas have  normal local weather and road conditions. Even the popular Himalayan destinations are still open such as Everest, Annapurna, Mustang, Makalu, and Manaslu.

We understand that the recent floodings may cause concern for people who are planning to visit Nepal anytime soon. However the affected areas are limited to the Trishuli–Bidur corridor, while other parts of Nepal are open to tourists.

However, we still request travellers to check routes and weather before they make their travel plans. Nepal is still open to welcoming tourists from around the world.

Although the flash flood has only affected a certain part of Nepal the destruction caused for the citizens of affected areas is still real and catastrophic. Lives have been lost and families have been torn apart. Our thoughts remain with the ones affected and we recognize the challenges that the people are facing. Just because the disaster is geographically small does not mean the suffering it caused should be overlooked.

Search and rescue are also in full swing as the Nepali government tries to rescue missing people. The government is also making an effort in rehabilitation of rescued people and the rebuilding of lost infrastructure. Foreign and domestic aid has also played a huge role in assisting the Nepali government to make their operations more successful.
