Kathmandu Valley Rim Hiking

Mystic Kathmandu valley comprising three ancient cities of Kathmandu, Patan & Bhaktapur is renowned for- world famous sacred pilgrimage sites, year-round colorful festivals, vibrant in culture and beautiful in nature. The vibrant valley houses seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the home for hundreds of exquisite monuments, sculptures, artistic temples and magnificent art all rare & unique – reminders of the golden medieval era in Nepal’s art, architecture and oriental civilization.

Katmandu Valley (1330 m.) geographically lying in the mid hill region with pleasant weather all year round is surrounded by rising green hills; Nagarkot (2175m) to the East and to the South, Phulchoki (2755 m), renowned for viewing the majestically beautiful white mountains of central and Eastern Himalayan range. In the same way, stunningly beautiful views of central and Western Himalayan range can be seen from Chandragiri (2550 m) to the West and Kakani (2066 m) and Shivapuri (2729m) to the North. Most hiking routes pass through quiet villages in the outskirt hill side, along small rivers, well protected community forest and national park jungle. The area is also spring water sources of small rivers like; Bagmati, Vishnumati, Ichhumati and many more brooklets. Pristine nature has not only refreshed air but, also gives a natural therapy for mindfulness in serene environment.

Hiking in nature is cleansing body and de-stressing mind away from urban stressful hustle & bustle.  Kathmandu valley rim has dozens of wonderful hiking routes ranging from casual to mid-level strenuous routes with lots of choices for different fitness levels. It can be a day hiking to multiple days hikings to extended short trek routes beyond the Kathmandu valley rim to Sailung (3060m), Mahabharat (2860m), Helambu (3490m) and Daman (2505m) higher routes.

The hiking routes provide opportunity to learn rich culture, age old local traditions, rural life and enjoy stunning picturesque views of the countryside and pristine nature. Trekking in the spring season offers early blooming rhododendrons, magnolias, many wild bush colorful flowers and in the autumn and winter, wonderful + 8000 m. high mountain views of entire Annapurna range and Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Rolwaling range to even further Mt. Everest range in the far-east.

from Annapurna (8091m) in the West to the Mt. Everest (8848m) in the East including Ganesh Himal (7429m), Langtang (7199), Manaslu (8163m), Dorje Lhakpa (6966m), Gangchhenpo, Gaurishanker (7134m.), Makalu (8463m), Lhotse (8516m) etc.

Nagarkot (2175m),  Shivapuri (2729m), Kakani (2066 m),  Dhap Tal, lake (2100m.),  Shivapuri National Park,  Dhulikhel (1540m.), Namobuddha (1740m.), Nagarjun (2100m.), Chandragiri (2475m.).
